Data Protection Officer (DPO)
By law, some organisations are required to appoint a Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with the GDPR.
As data protection laws become more stringent, many organisations are finding they would like to voluntarily appoint Data Protection Officers in order to ensure they are safe from data breaches and subsequent fines by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
What does a Data Protection Officer do?
The role of a DPO is to ensure compliance with Data Protection laws.
At Kazient, we begin by conducting an analysis of an organisation’s existing data protection procedures. Following a clear understanding of what needs to be done, our DPO’s provide support and advice to ensure compliance.
The DPO is also responsible for identifying and minimising risks, drafting the correct procedures and ensuring future work is compliant through Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA). Should a breach of data occur, the Data Protection Officer will report the breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office and become the point of contact with the ICO.
